My quest took me away for a long time and into different directions. None was fully satisfying.
This is my second life. I spent my first one in a business suit for large software financial corporation. Boston to London to Paris to Frankfurt to NYC. Planes and taxis, meetings and corporate buildings, codes, numbers, bugs, fun but incomplete.
Eventually the fun disappeared. Something was missing. I wanted to create something of my own, with meaning, purpose. Build long lasting relationships and be happy again.
I always had a secret garden. Good champagne, wine and food. Friends would naturally come to me for recommendation. Over the years, I’ve built a real bond with a few winemakers across France. And they gave me a chance to “experiment” and create my wine.
And since that moment, the rest is history as they say. I created my champagne and Cour Des Lys would be its flagship. I felt alive again, obsessed with it, eager to learn, do more and create a champagne that matches my expectations: mineral and crisp above all.
There have been moments of joy, celebration but also rough seas and doubts along the way. But I believe this is part of the journey and I accept it no matter what. Because my goal, my only goal was to share this vision with a community. People, who like me, believe diversity is a gift. People who believe that we have a choice to eat better, drink better and care for our environment and surroundings. Where everything has gone global or mass produced, I believe there is a way for local craftsmanship excellence.
I am looking forward to meeting you one day, at a restaurant, at a tasting session or simply when you’ll have a glass of my champagne. And you’ll understand, this will be my greatest reward, and I hope, a revelation for you, as to what champagne can be.
